DVCNews Debates: Studio vs One Bedroom

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Disney Vacation Club Deluxe Studio and One Bedroom villas both sleep parties of 4-5 guests.  One Bedroom villas are the more luxurious accommodation with roughly twice the square footage and the addition of several amenities including a full kitchen, in-room washer and dryer, jacuzzi tub and king size bed.

Deluxe Studio villas represent the more modest accommodation, typically a single room featuring a queen size bed plus sofabed and a kitchenette.  Studio villas are also far more economical with some priced at half the cost of a One Bedroom villa at the same property.

DVCNews Debates: Polynesian Lobby

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Renovations at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort have been a very polarizing topic for several months now.  Many long-time fans have been steadfastly opposed to changes to the lobby, pool and grounds as the resort prepares to open its first Disney Vacation Club villas.  Of particular note is the removal (or downsizing) of the waterfall previously located in the center of the lobby.

But those changes are only now starting to come into focus with the resort's main lobby reopening late last week (see coverage HERE and HERE.)

Topic:  Now that the finished product is visible, what is your opinion of changes to the Polynesian lobby?

DVCNews Debates: Studio Sleeper

When the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge was refurbished in 2014, one of the surprises was the expansion of Deluxe Studio villas to sleep 5 guests of any age.  The extra sleeping accommodation came in the form of a fold-down twin size bed.  The bed is built into a combination bed / table / armoire unit.  The round dining table has been removed from villas with the new unit flexible enough to be set-up as either the twin bed OR a small square table with two chairs.  Some owners have voiced preference for the new setup, allowing for the flexibility of either a 3rd bed in the room or a table while others seem to prefer the dedicated table and lower occupancy limit.

This new design appears to have found favor with Disney executives as both Disney's Beach Club Villas and Disney's BoardWalk Villas will receive the new bed & table units in 2015.

DVCNews Debates: Disney Job

Walt Disney World Resort reportedly employs more than 60,000 individuals with thousands more staffing Disneyland Resort, off-site Disney Vacation Club properties and more.

With so many employment opportunities available, some Disney Vacation Club owners will eventually feel the urge to relocate and work for The Mouse.  But what is the ideal job to seek within the Disney corporate empire?  Working at a favorite theme park attraction?  Making magical experiences at a resort front desk?  Or perhaps introducing new buyers to the world of Disney Vacation Club as a sales associate?

DVCNews Debates: 7-Month Availability

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

There has always been uncertainty involved in booking a non-Home resort 7 months prior to arrival.  With owners at each property having 4 months' priority to secure reservations, high demand resorts, views and villa sizes have a tendency to be at-or-near full occupancy before non-owners can book.

Adding more members to the program would seem to place more pressure on select high-demand locations...but adding new high-demand resort options (like the Grand Floridian) could also help reduce the strain on some resorts.

Topic:  In recent years, have you found it to be easier, harder or about the same to secure a reservation at non-Home resorts?
