DVCNews Debates: Early resort guest

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesThere is an undeniable thrill associated with being an opening day guest at a new resort.  The sheets are brand new, the bed has never been slept in and (in theory) everything is in perfect working order.

But reality may stray a bit from those romantic visions if there are any lingering mechanical glitches in the new rooms or if nearby construction work is still under way.

DVCNews Debates: California DVC

mt_ignore:DVCNews DebatesThe addition of another Disneyland-based Disney Vacation Club property has always seemed more a question of "when" rather than "if."  But as the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel approaches its 6th birthday, there is no sight of another property on the horizon.

Still, Grand Californian points are among the most expensive to acquire on the resale market and difficult to come by.

DVCNews Debates: Wood floors

One of the newer design trends in Disney Vacation Club villas is the use of laminate (faux) wood flooring.  Most new and recently-renovated One and Two Bedroom Villas have had laminates installed in kitchens and living spaces, and even some Studio villas are now seeing the modification.

Laminates may not be as attractive as true hard wood or even carpet (to some tastes), but manufacturers claim that the laminates are more durable, stain resistant and easier to clean than other flooring options.

DVCNews Debates: Ever regret NOT buying?

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Making a Disney Vacation Club purchase is a major decision.  Not only is it a very costly endeavour, but it amounts to a lengthy obligation to visit Disney resort hotels for many years to come.

With buyers apt to second-guess the decision come regrets over not buying at a certain point in time.  Such procrastination could lead to paying higher prices (direct or resale), missing out on a desired resale contract or fewer years of ownership.

DVCNews Debates: Construction

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

There is never a convenient time for renovations and new construction at Walt Disney World resorts. Regardless of the time of year, there are always guests hoping for peaceful surroundings and fully-functional amenities.  But construction work does occur.  Sometimes it's a relatively minor update or addition.  Other times--as in the case of Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows--the renovations seem to touch nearly every corner of the resort property.

But does the construction work impact vacation plans?  Do renovations play a role in your choice of resorts?

Topic:  Does resort construction or refurbishments make you less likely to make a reservation at the impacted resort?
