General information regarding Disney Vacation Club's Membership Extras and other perks offered to owners.
Other than low-cost accommodations, are there any other benefits to DVC ownership?
Disney Vacation Club has negotiated some attractive discounts for DVC members throughout Walt Disney World, Disneyland and other peripheral locations. To access a current list of discounts visit DVCMember.com and look under Member Benefits & Extras.
The list inlcudes a variety of discounts on most table service resturants, shopping discounts, tours, recreation. Discounts on Annual Passes and other theme park tickets have been offered in the past.
The website Allears.net maintains a list of discounts offered to DVC Members, Annual Passholders and several other categories of Disney guest. The Allears.net summary can be found HERE. Note that DVC (and other) discount programs are subject to change at any time.
Do Disney Vacation Club members qualify for discounted theme park admission?
When offered, DVC members typically qualify for the Walt Disney World Sorcerer pass (formerly Gold pass). The pass provides approximately 50 weeks of theme park admission per year with blockout dates which may include Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. This pass is only available to DVC owners and Florida residents, and is priced lower than annual passes offered to the general public.
Other theme park ticket specials have been offered for limited periods. Modest savings are available for single-day passes to Disney waterparks.
Members must qualify for Membership Extras in order to purchse the Sorcerer pass (or equivalent) or other discounted tickets.
Are there any special lounges or locations that only DVC members can visit?
There are currently two private lounges available only to members:
On the second floor of EPCOT's Imagination Pavilion is a private lounge where members can get free snacks and refreshments while enjoying comfortable seating, recharging stations and more. Entry is granted by visiting the podium in the pavilion's gift shop.
Located on the 16th floor of Bay Lake Tower is Top of the World Lounge. The lounge is home to a variety of paid events (see member website for current schedule.) However the outdoor viewing deck is open most nights for members wishing to see the night's fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom. Visit the podium in Bay Lake Tower's north elevator vestibule to inquire regarding entrance.
A third members-only lounge is scheduled to open in 2023 in Tomorrowland at Disneyland.
Individuals must qualify for Membership Magic in order to visit any of the private lounges.
What is Moonlight Magic?
Moonlight Magic is an after-hours event offered several times per year which provides members with complimentary late night access to one of the Disney theme parks or waterparks. Highlights include short wait times for the most popular attractions, unique character appearances and free snacks and refreshments.
Attendance is limited and advance registration is required. Priority is typically given to owners with a confirmed hotel reservation on the night of the event.
Members must qualify for Membership Extras in order to attend.
Is there any special merchandise for DVC members?
Disney regularly creates shirts, Magic Bands, trading pins and other items exclusively available to Disney Vacation Club members. These items can be found on display in resort gift shops. Ask a gift shop cashier if they have any member exclusives available.
A Disney Vacation Club member ID card may be required in order to puchase select exclusive merchandise.
Do DVC members receive any discounts on cash rooms?
Disney Vacation Club members can to receive a discount of 25% off of the Rack Rate for cash rooms at the DVC resorts only. This discounted rate is only offered when DVC estimates that the resort will not be completely booked on a given night by members using points.
DVC members reserving a room at the 25% discount can link together reservations booked using points and cash. As long as the two reservations are for consecutive nights at the same resort in the same room size, linking the reservations guarantees that guests only need to complete one check-in and that they will remain in the same guest room for the duration of the trip.
Members are eligible to reserve only one room per night at the discounted rate. The member is supposed to be staying in a room when reserved with the discount, but DVC is often inconsistent in administering this rule.
A deposit equal to one night's charge is due at the time of booking. Cancellations must be made at least 7 days before the scheduled arrival to avoid charges.
Contact Member Services to inquire about room availability at the 25% discount price.
