DVCNews Debates: Annual Pass Promo Reaction

Last month, Disney Vacation Club debuted a limited time member promo to purchase the Platinum Plus Annual Pass for 25% off the regular price, a savings of over $200 per ticket. At this pricing, the Platinum Plus Pass costs about the same price as the Gold Pass but includes visits to the Disney waterparks and eliminates blockout dates.  The discounted pass must be purchased by January 3, 2018.  While the pricing is certainly very attractive, is it enough to alter vacation plans?

DVCNews Debates: More Gondolas?

In July at the D23 Fan Expo, Walt Disney World executives revealed that the resort would soon link 3 hotels, 2 theme parks and the forthcoming Disney Riviera Resort timeshare property by an airborne gondola system called the Skyliner.  Similar to the old Magic Kingdom Skyway system, the transportation will link Pop Century, Art of Animation, Caribbean Beach and Riviera to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, bringing a more "magical" transportation option to routes currently served by buses.  But perhaps this won't be the only Skyliner install we see.

Disney Riviera Resort was surprisingly revealed at the recent D23 Expo, though few details have been confirmed.  We know it will be located on land which was previously part of Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and feature a rooftop restaurant in the vein of California Grill.  The rooms will have some view of nighttime shows at Epcot and Hollywood Studios with Skyliner transportation to the two parks. But most other details remain a mystery.

The Parks & Resorts panel at the 2017 D23 Expo seemingly yielded more information than the prior four expos combined.  New attractions for just about every theme park including a Tron coaster at Magic Kingdom, "Ratatouille" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" at Epcot and a Mickey Mouse ride for Disney's Hollywood Studios.  A new DVC resort, a Star Wars resort and a Marvel Resort were revealed.  Marvel attractions, "Pixar Pier" and a Halloween makeover for Cars Land are coming to California.

DVCNews Debates: Trash & Towel Service

Every few days, Disney Vacation Club resorts provide what is called Trash & Towel Service.  While the villa does not receive a full cleaning, towels and some consumables are replaced and the trash is emptied.  Disney typically queues rooms for servicing by placing a basket outside with the new towels, toiletries, etc.  The presence of this basket sometimes prompts guests to service their own room rather than waiting for a housekeeping Cast Member to arrive.
