Disney Vacation Club has confirmed that the upcoming refresh of guest room interiors at Disney's BoardWalk Villas will take place from fall 2023 through spring 2024.
Crews have been updating sections of Disney's BoardWalk Inn & Villas for the better part of a year now. In the last several months, the BoardWalk Bakery was converted to the BoardWalk Deli. Minor enhancements were applied to the main lobby and it received a new refreshment outlet in the form of Carousel Coffee. And hotel rooms on the inn side are in the process of being updated with a new look and feel.
In the coming months, all of the Disney Vacation Club villas will also be updated. According to the latest issue of Disney Files Magazine, work will begin in the fall of 2023 and wrap-up in spring 2024.
This information is consistent with changes to room availability at the resort. A significant number of rooms have proven unavailable to book for several weeks at a time, likely to accommodate both interior and exterior work to those areas. All of the resort's BoardWalk View rooms are unavailable to book for beginning in September 2023. And in January and February, all of the Standard View rooms were blocked from member reservations. Those two categories represent about 1/3 of the resort's 383 accommodations. The resort's Garden and Pool View rooms will likely be refurbished in sections, leaving some rooms available to guests at all times.
The vague spring 2024 completion date suggests work could extend into the early weeks of June.
According to Disney Files, workers will "install new flooring, update bathrooms, hang new artwork and replace select furniture" during the villa refurbishment. This project represents the first signficant guest room work since 2016.
