DVCNews Debates: Holiday decor

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Disney has a reputation for trying to get the most bang for its buck when it comes to theme park operations.  Take holiday decorations, for example.  Decorations for Halloween and the fall season begin to appear around Labor Day, a good 8 weeks before Halloween itself.  As soon as November arrives the fall decor is replaced with Christmas decorations. With Christmas festivities extending into the first week of January, the holiday celebration lasts for 2 full months.

To some, being able to attend Mickey's No So Scary Halloween Party in mid September is a good thing.  Others enjoy viewing the Osborne Lights weeks before Thanksgiving.  But some of the lengthy holiday celebrations could also be labeled excessive.

As the holiday season approaches, it gives us an opportunity to look back fondly on years of Disney experiences.

To current Disney Vacation Club members, prospective members or even former members, the Disney parks have been a source for many cherished memories.  Looking back upon old vacation photos, videos or scrapbooks, we often revisit our children's youth, friends & family members who are no longer with us and many other happy memories.

DVCNews Debates: One new perk

At the 2013 Condo Assocation Meeting, Disney Vacation Club Vice President & General Manager Ken Potrock indicated that new park admission, dining and shopping discounts may be revealed in the near future.

Understanding that there are some limits to what DVC can deliver--it won't be free park admission or free dining plans--what sort of perk would you like to see announced?

DVCNews Debates: RCI vs Interval

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

In 2008 Disney Vacation Club changed its trading company affiliation from Interval International to RCI.  Interval is generally regarded as having higher quality destinations including Marriott and Four Seasons resorts.  However DVC accommodations did not trade particularly well within the Interval system.

RCI has more total destinations but does not necessarily match the prestige of Interval.  DVC resorts seem to trade quite well, affording owners increased odds of completing a successful trade.

DVCNews Debates: After 4pm pass

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Walt Disney World has several types of admission tickets which are mostly restricted to Florida residents only.  One of those passes is an "After 4pm" ticket exclusively for the EPCOT theme park.  The After 4 pass would seem to be most useful to guests who wish to frequently dine at EPCOT restaurants, while perhaps making some light use of the park's attractions in the five hours before closing.

With some Disney Vacation Club owners making relatively light use of the Disney parks, such a pass may also be beneficial to that group.  The After-4pm EPCOT Annual Pass currently retails for $179 plus tax or $149 for renewals.
