Walt Disney World will soon allow guests to purchase park tickets and book hotel rooms for dates in 2020.
Several weeks ago, Disney announced that it was temporarily suspending sales of theme park tickets and booking of cash hotel rooms. The move was driven by the need to limit attendance as the parks prepared to reopen from the COVID-19 closure.
On June 28, Disney reopened bookings for the 2021 calendar year. However, those with existing reservations in 2020--including Disney Vacation Club members--still remained in limbo.
Today it was revealed that ticket sales for 2020 admission dates will resume on July 9. Guests hoping to book or modify cash hotel reservations for 2020 can also resume doing so on July 9.
Note that through at least September 2021, guests must secure an advance reservation to visit any of the four Walt Disney World parks. Guests are encouraged to visit DisneyWorld.com/DisneyParkPass to confirm availablity before purchasing their park tickets.
Due to the expected high volume of website traffic on July 9, Disney expects its virtual waiting room technology to kick-in. Expect extended online wait times early in the day as guests purchases are processed.
Magic Kingdom and Disney's Animal Kingdom are scheduled to reopen on July 11, with EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios following on the 14th.
Disney Vacation Club villa reservations are currently available into 2021, subject to the normal 11 and 7 month booking guidelines. Until further notice, members are limited to borrowing 50% of their points from any future Use Year.
