Disney Vacation Development has taken an important step as it moves closer to selling ownership in the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.

The Florida Department of Business & Professional Regulation is currently reviewing Disney's application to begin selling timeshare ownership in the fourteenth Disney Vacation Club property. The license status was last updated on August 1, 2016 and is currently listed as "under review."
The department has already issued a license for the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins Condominium Assocation to act as "Managing Entity" for the timeshare project.
Few details can be gleaned from this intial filing. The Florida DBPR website does list 9384 timeshare weeks covered by the application. With DVD able to sell 51 weeks for every unit, this number equates to 184 villas.
However, this figure may not represent the entire Copper Creek development. In 2014, Disney Vacation Development submitted its initial license application for Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. That application cited 8262 weeks, or roughly 162 villas. That number corresponds with the Polynesian's initial declaration, but is far less than the 380 Deluxe Studio villas and bungalows in the resort.

Plans depict 26 beachfront cabins coming to the Wilderness Lodge, while an existing hotel wing housing about 360 rooms is being reconfigured to support an unknown number of villas.
Approval of this license must occur before sales may begin, but it would not necessarily signify an immediate start. Disney will have to obtain approval from other States and Canadian Provinces before it can begin selling the new timeshare resort over the telephone, via the Internet, or through the mail to people residing outside of Florida. In the case of the Polynesian Villas & Bungalows, the timeshare license was approved on June 17, 2014 but Disney did not begin selling ownership at the resort until January 12, 2015.
Permits associated with the Wilderness Lodge renovations suggest that work may continue into 2018.
