Disney has issued a press release with additional details regarding the restaurant which will replace Spoodles on Disney's BoardWalk.

Disney's BoardWalk Inn and VIllas is losing one of its signature restaurants.  Spoodles will close later this year to make way for Kouzzina by Cat Cora. 

The Orlando Sentinel quotes Disney parks chairman Jay Rasulo regarding their partnership with the celebrity chef:

This collaboration between Cat and Disney represents a significant step in our ongoing commitment to offer unique culinary experiences and choices for our guests.

The exterior of Disney's BoardWalk Villas will receive a great deal of TLC throughout 2009.  The building itself is scheduled for minor repairs and painting, while the roof over the Villa wing will also be replaced. 

The painting project has already begun and will continue until approximately September 25, 2009.  The roof replacement is scheduled to begin on January 5, 2009 and run until November 6, 2009.

The lobby of Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Villas will be quite a little beehive of activity throughout the month of September as a number of maintenance projects are completed.

Note that these renovations are occurring at the BoardWalk Inn and not the BoardWalk Villas.  Disney has been renovating many of its Deluxe-class resorts in recent years including resorts like the Wilderness Lodge which which also house Disney Vacation Club villas.  However no announcements have been made regarding similar renovations to Vacation Club rooms.

A few weeks ago we reported on Disney's plan to close the BoardWalk Villas quiet pool from late-April into early-May for refurbishment.  More recently we've received reports that the refurb dates have changed.

The quiet pool is now scheduled to be closed from May 19th through May 30th.  

During that period guests will still have access to the Luna Park main pool and the quiet pool on the BoardWalk Inn side of the resort.
