Earlier this year Walt Disney World announced a series of "Disney After Hours" events which would provide 3 hours of exclusive access to the Magic Kingdom with very limited crowds.  Attendees can seemingly ride every major attraction--multiple times--with virtually no wait.  Priced at $149 per person, Disney After Hours was apparently not well received by the public.  Shortly after launching, they provided Disney Vacation Club members with free aemission on one evening and 50% discounts on most others.

Effective April 4, 2016, Disney Vacation Club contracts purchased via the resale market are not eligible for the "Membership Extras" slate of perks.  Among the restricted items are annual pass and other ticket discounts, dining discounts, merchandise discounts and more.  In order to be eligible for these perks, owners buying after 4/4/16 must own some number of points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Club. 

It has been suggested that these new restrictions will lead to reduced demand among resale buyers, which could translate into lower prices.

Availability of pool chairs is often an issue at leisure destinations.  Pool decks will only accommodate a fraction of the total registered guests at the hotel, prompting some guests to wake before dawn and attempt to reserve chairs before the crowds arrive.  

Among the Disney Vacation Club properties, issues seem to be most pronounced at Aulani in Hawaii, which does not have the draw of a nearby theme park to entertain guests.  But other locations are known to experience issues as well the height of the summer season.

With Disney Vacation Club's new restriction on member perks, certain benefits will only be available to buyers who purchase points directly from DVC.  Still the value of those member perks may not justify the added expense.  Resorts like Bay Lake Tower, Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort are priced in the neighborhood of $120-140 per point on the secondary market while DVC asks $180 per point. Buyers must consider whether the perks are worth the added investment of a direct purchase.
