Update: After initially receiving word that the model rooms for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Resort were set to permanently close at the end of September, new information has come to light which indicates this is not the case.
While we make every effort to check and re-check information before it is published here, every so often something slips through the cracks. This appears to be one of those occasions.
Despite multiple confirmations that Disney had plans to close the Grand Californian model rooms and begin development on a new resort design, a highly-placed DVC source has come forward to dispute this claim. The model rooms are set to close, however the closure is not permanent and the models will re-open at a later date.
There is currently no specific timeframe for the model room re-opening.
