Beginning today Disney Vacation Club members and prospective owners can view the promotional webcast featuring Samantha Brown's tour of the Disney Fantasy cruise ship. The webcast offers a brief look at ship features, overview of the DVC timeshare program and special incentives available only to participants.
The main portion of the webcast runs about 10 minutes. Travel guru Samantha Brown visits with numerous ship Cast Members and Disney Imagineering staffers to highlight unique features of the ship including its restaurants and night clubs, spa and water features including the AquaDuck slide.
Throughout the content the ability to use Disney Vacation Club points for non-DVC destinations including Disney Cruise Line is stressed. As of March 2011, this feature is exclusive to points purchased direct from Disney.
The promotional clip also emphasizes the value of multiple Home resorts--giving members the 11-month priority reservation window at more than one location.
The webcast itself streamed flawlessly on an 18 month old iMac with high speed Internet (cable)--no buffering, no stuttering. The video is presented in a window measuring approximately 5" x 3.5" on the monitor. A link to a low bandwidth version was also offered for those experiencing difficulties.
At the conclusion of the primary video, additional links are presented to view a 10-minute overview of Disney Vacation Club destinations, a 5-minute clip highlighting promotional incentives as well as web chat and telephone contact links.
The primary incentive offered is free passage for two adults on the January 2013 S.S. Member Cruise plus a $300 stateroom credit. The member cruise is a 3-night voyage on the Disney Dream departing Thursday, January 10, 2013. Accommodations for the cruise are listed as a veranda stateroom with no specific category mentioned. The stated value for the cruise is listed as $2,082 which includes all taxes, fees and Cast Member gratuities.
The free S.S. Member Cruise offer is available with the purchase of 200 vacation points at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas or Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. In order to take advantage of this offer, a minimum downpayment of 20% is required.
The free S.S. Member Cruise incentive expires on April 22, 2012.
