Aulani Buyers Can Add "Magical Beginnings" to Current Promotions

In the 1990s when Disney Vacation Club was still in its infancy, "Magical Beginnings" was one of their core programs designed to make the timeshare purchase more affordable. Under this program, buyers could effectively sell their first year's worth of points back to DVC for what amounted to an $8-10 discount off of the initial purchase. With many buyers making their first DVC investment while vacationing at Walt Disney World, Magical Beginnings was viewed as a sensible way to reduce the purchase price in exchange for delaying the first visit using DVC points. 

The program was eventually retired, only to return in 2009 with a $15 credit for direct purchases at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. 

Now it has been revived again to help sell points at Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. New or current members adding 150 or more points at Aulani can forego their first year's worth of points in exchange for a rebate of $10 per point. 

This rebate comes in addition to current incentive pricing which discounts a purchase of 300 points by a rather stunning $58 each for new buyers and $68 for existing members. With a base price of $201 per point, this incentive could take the effective cost of a 300-point add-on all the way down to $123 each for a contract that runs through January 2062.  Note that this pricing is due to change on December 15, 2021. 

Buyers exercising this option would lose their first year of points. Exact terms will vary depending upon the exact Use Year of the points. Some Annual Dues may still be payable by the owner, however they are typically proated based upon the date of purchase. Most buyers exercising this option would be selling back their 2021 points while paying little-to-no dues for the 2021 calendar year. 

Future points could be borrowed from the contract, subject to the 50% limit currently in place. 

This offer is available only for direct purchases of Aulani points. No ending date has been revealed, however the offer may be modified or discontinued at any time.

Offer requires eligible new purchasers and add-on Members to be a resident of one of the 50 U.S. states and participate in a Resort sales tour, either telephonically or in person (“Tour”), and buy an ownership interest directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc. (“Developer”) with at least 150 Vacation Points in AULANI, Disney Vacation Club® Villas, Ko Olina, Hawai’i or Disney’s Riviera Resort. Eligible purchasers may exchange their full allotment of Vacation Points from the first Use Year for a cash rebate to be determined by Developer, currently $10 per point, subject to change. Amounts purchaser receives as part of this rebate may reduce the purchaser’s basis in the ownership interest for tax purposes. The TWDC Companies do not make any representations as to the income tax consequences of a rebate, sale, or resale of the purchaser’s ownership interest. Each purchaser should consult his or her own tax advisor as to these issues. Offer begins November 23, 2021. Purchasers must communicate their decision to participate in this offer to Developer at four (4) calendar days prior to the end of their first Use Year. Cash rebate cannot be applied toward any portion of the minimum 10% down payment required, depending on qualified financing, and is in the form of a check that will be mailed to purchaser approximately four (4) weeks after the deed has been recorded by the county.
