The three newest Disney Vacation Club resorts took a step back from their sales in July 2024, but three legacy resorts had their best sales in more than a year.
Disney's Riviera Resort
In August 2024, 165,986 DVC points were sold for the 12 DVC resorts located at World Disney World and The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. It was a drop of 19.4% from July’s total of 205,898 points. Despite the drop, sales in August were still more than the 148,324 points direct sales have averaged over the first seven months of 2024.
The three newest DVC resorts — The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness, Disneyland Hotel and Disney’s Riviera Resort — all sold fewer points than in July. In addition, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, which had sold over 150,000 points in the previous four months while special sales incentives were being offered, sold only 5,940 points in August.
Three older resorts had a boost in their sales in August and recorded their best monthly sales in more than a year; Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas sold 8,505 points, its best month since June 2023 (9,735 points); Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort sold 3,640 points, the most since April 2022 (6,395 points); and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa sold 20,615 points, its highest monthly amount since May 2021 (27,827 points).
For the fourth month in a row, no sales were recorded for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The last time a Polynesian deed was recorded by Orange County Comptroller was on April 5, 2024. Since the Polynesian’s new Island Tower is scheduled to open on December 17, 2024, sales should resume sometime in the coming weeks.
Riviera Resort dominated the large point deeds that were sold in August. The resort sold a 1,200-point deed, three 1,000 point deeds, a 700-point deed, and a 600-point deed. The largest non-Riviera deed was a 600-point deed for Animal Kingdom Villas. The largest multiple deed purchased, also for Riviera, was 1,000 points split into two 500-point deeds.
Disney’s Riviera Resort — In August, Riviera sold 99,211 points, its second best month since the start of the pandemic.
Disney has sold 4,695,433 Riviera points, about 69.7% of the resort’s 6,739,966 total points. If future Riviera sales maintain that pace, it will be about 27 months before the resort is completely sold out.
Six Fixed Week deeds were sold for Riviera in August, the most sold in a single month since August 2021. Disney has sold 129 Fixed Week deeds for the resort with Weeks #51 (15 deeds) and #52 (18 deeds) being the most popular weeks.
Disney has declared 269 of the 341 vacation homes for the DVC inventory at Disney’s Riviera Resort. There are still 72 vacation homes that have not yet been declared and are still under the control of Disney. The declared inventory accounts for 5,359,939 points, or 79.5% of the resort’s total points.
Villas at Disneyland Hotel — In August, approximately 22,625 points were sold for Disneyland Hotel, about 4.6% less than what it has averaged in calendar year 2024. Disney has sold 761,329 points since sales were first recorded in May 2023, about 23.4% of the resort’s estimated 3,255,992 total points.
The number of points sold for the Disneyland Hotel can only be estimated. The data available from the Orange County (California) Clerk-Recorder’s Office is limited and the exact number of points sold cannot be compiled directly; instead, the number of points can only be estimated based on the Transfer Tax paid on each deed.
Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort — In August, 3,400 points were sold for The Cabins at Fort Wilderness, DVC’s newest resort. Disney has now sold 45,462 points for the Cabins, which is about 1.6% of the resort’s estimated 2,780,943 total points.
One Fixed Week deed was sold for Fort Wilderness in August. To date, a total of seven Fixed Week deeds have been sold for the resort.
On April 3, 2024, Disney declared 33 cabins, bringing the number of cabins declared for DVC’s newest resort to 63. DVC members will be able to book using points up to 63 cabins on any given Use Day. There are still another 300 cabins that have not yet been declared. Disney will be able to use these 300 cabins for cash rentals or any other purpose it desires.
The sales data includes all 12 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds. Thanks to Chris from dvc.market for assisting in the compilation of the sales data.
