2016 ended on a positive note for direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points. In December 2016, 124,736 points were sold for the nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, a modest increase of 6.9% over the previous month. However, quarterly sales in 2016 for those same resorts recorded a healthy increase of 29.9% over the comparable three month period in 2015 (382,734 points in 2016 versus 294,686 points in 2015).
2016 also represented the best calendar year for direct sales since 2013 for the Walt Disney World DVC resorts. In 2016, 1,748,403 points were sold, an increase of 7.2% over 2015’s 1,631,474 points.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — In December 2016, 103,591 points were sold for the Polynesian. For the calendar quarter, the Polynesian sold 314,812 points, a vast improvement over the 236,758 points that were sold for the resort in the last three months of 2015. The resort has now sold about 58.0% of its four million points. Disney has about 1.6 million still to sell for the Polynesian. Based on its rate of sales for this year, it will take about 14 months, or until February 2018, before the Polynesian is sold out.
So far, Disney Vacation Development declared 264 studios and 16 of the bungalows for the DVC inventory. In terms of points, 2,989,488 points (74.1%) are now officially part of the Polynesian’s DVC inventory. There are still 96 studios and four bungalows that have yet to be declared and are under the control of Disney Vacation Development.
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — The Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances, which records deeds for Aulani, does not update its website as timely as the other county clerks that service the other DVC resorts. Sales data for December 2016 is not yet available. However, in November 2016 only 25,324 points were sold for Aulani, the fewest number of points sold in any month in the 31 months that sales have been tracked for the resort.
The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
