Financial News & Pricing

May 2014 saw a decline in Disney Vacation Club points sold by Disney Vacation Development. For the month, 136,283 points were sold, 14.5% less than the previous month. The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which is the only Disney Vacation Club resort at Walt Disney World being actively marketed, accounted for 79.8% of the points sold.

Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa -- With 108,722 points sold in May 2014, the Grand Floridian has sold 51.34% of its 2.5 million points. Since the first sales were recorded in June 2013, the Grand Floridian has averaged about 108,000 points a month in its first 12 months of sales. If sales continue at the current rate, the resort will be sold out in about 11 months.

DVC Direct Sales May 2014

Six Fixed Week deeds were sold for the Grand Floridian in May 2014, bringing to 222 the number of Fixed Week deeds sold so far. Fixed Week deeds account for only 6.0% of the points sold, well below the 35% cap that Disney Vacation Development stated would be the maximum that it might sell.

Disney Vacation Development has declared 75.8% of the Grand Floridian for the Disney Vacation Club inventory. This means that about one-fourth of the resort is still controlled by Disney Vacation Development and cannot be booked by Disney Vacation Club members using points.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas -- Sales for Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas dropped to 13,657 points in May 2014, continuing a decline since January 2014 when it was announced the resort was "sold out." Despite no longer being actively marketed, Disney Vacation Development still has about 190,000 Animal Kingdom Villas points that it can sell to the general public.

The sales data includes all eight DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head IslandResort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
