I-4 offramp to West Side parking structure
The expansion of Lake Buena Vista Drive from 7 lanes to 10 lanes will ease congestion in the area. Perhaps even more impactful will be the addition of an I-4 offramp which funnels traffic directly into one of two 4,000-space parking structures. Off-site guests and locals visiting the future Disney Springs will no longer have to exit I-4 nearly a mile away and use Lake Buena Vista Drive to access the shopping complex--instead they will drive directly from the Interstate into the the multilevel parking facilities.
Additional concept art
The West Side parking garage is scheduled to be completed in late 2014. A second structure is also being developed further to the east, near the current Marketplace section of Downtown Disney.
No word on exactly when the I-4 interchange will be complete.
West Side parking garage progress as of Spring 2014
The first expansion region of Disney Springs dubbed The Landing will open in 2015. The full expansion project is scheduled to be completed sometime in 2016.
