DVCNews Debates: Advance planning

Disney Vacation Club owners can book their trips up to 11 months prior to arrival.  But that technical limitation doesn't stop members from using pencil and paper (or spreadsheet) to plan much further out.  Knowing how many points will be available annually for many years to come certainly makes it much easier to sketch out tentative vacation plans.

DVCNews Debates: Pre-buy research

Disney Vacation Club is a rather complicated timeshare program.  Even seasoned veterans may admit they don't know all of the ins-and-outs of the system.

Researching DVC before buying is an even greater challenge.  Many details are easy to overlook and the web provides many sources of conflicting information.  It's very easy to overlook some relevant detail before committing to a specific purchase (number of points, home resort, use year, etc.)

Topic:  Looking back, do you feel you performed enough research before buying?  Was there some critical detail that you regret not fully understanding beforehand?

DVCNews Debates: Park Hopping

Walt Disney World's Magic Your Way tickets sell the park hopping option separately.  Without the park hopping option, guests are limited to just one theme park visited per day.  With park hopping, guests can visit 2, 3 or all 4 parks in a single day by spending one day on their admission ticket.

But park hopping comes at a cost.  For 2-3 day passes, the park hopping add-on is $50 per person.  For longer tickets, it increases to $64 each.  A family of four could pay more than $250 for the option to park hop.

Topic:  Do you typically buy the park hopping option?  Or if using Annual Passes, do you even take advantage of park hopping?

DVCNews Debates: Resort categories

mt_ignore:DVCNews Debates

Disney Vacation Club revealed its plan to add different booking categories to Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.  Starting in 2017 rooms will be classified as either higher-priced "Preferred" or lower-priced "Standard."  But Saratoga Springs may not be the only resort which is in need of some form of room classification.

Room classes can include price breaks for lower-quality rooms, as in the case of Saratoga Springs, Grand Floridian and several other resorts with "Standard" villas.  Or the classes can simply guarantee booking in a specific area of the resort like the BoardWalk's Pool / Garden View and BoardWalk view.
