Permits Filed for Treehouse Rebuild

Saratoga Springs Resort

On March 24, 2008, the Orange County Comptroller recorded the first permits related to the scheduled rebuild of the Treehouse Villas at Walt Disney World.  These permits help shed a little more light on the project.

Two permits were recorded this week.  The first is a Notice of Commencement for the "Design, Fabrication, Delivery & Installation" of the new villa structures.  The contractor is listed as Haven Custom Homes out of Linthicum, Maryland.

Haven is an award-winning manufacturer of pre-fabricated manufactured homes.  As such, it appears that the new treehouses will be manufactured off-site and shipped to Walt Disney World for erection on the new sites.  Using such a method will cause fewer disturbances to the surrounding land and could lead to a significantly shorter completion timeframe.

The other permit is a second Notice of Commencement, this time for the installation of a "General Contractor Package."  The contractor package is normally trailers, temporary utilites and such to serve as a base of operations for on-site work.

A different contractor is listed on this permit, suggesting that work will soon begin to remove the old treehouse structures and  prepare the plots for the newly-built units.

The second permit can be viewed HERE or below.

Note that Disney representatives will not confirm the intended use for the new treehouses and any link to the Disney Vacation Club is purely speculation.
