Sentinel: No Comment from Disney on Treehouses

Saratoga Springs Resort

The Internet has been spinning with news of the Treehouse Villas' rebuild for two weeks now.  Today the Orlando Sentinel joins the party with its own look into the villas' future.

According to the Sentinel, Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger has confirmed that "at least some" of the treehouses will be rebuilt for use by guests at Walt Disney World.  This seemingly eliminates the possibility that the treehouses will return to service as accommodations for College and International Program Participants.

Per the Sentinel's Scott Powers:

[Finger] would not discuss whether the new Treehouse Villas would be rented as lodging, sold as Disney Vacation Club time shares, or both.

"We are bringing them back as a popular option for our guests," she said. "The unique location has provided a tranquil and more secluded environment that our guests have enjoyed since the mid-'70s."

The Treehouse Villas were most recently part of The Disney Institute--the same resort location currently held by Disney's Sartoga Springs Resort.  Speculation continues as to whether the treehouses will eventually be added to the Disney Vacation Club timeshare program--perhaps as additional units within Saratoga Springs--or made available for rental to cash guests.
