Disney has officially confirmed plans to build its fifteenth Disney Vacation Club property adjacent to Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.
During Saturday's Parks & Resorts session at the D23 Fan Club Expo in Anaheim, Disney Parks Chairman Bob Chapek announced plans to open Disney Riviera Resort at Walt Disney World. Few details were provided, although there was mention of a rooftop restaurant with views of nighttime shows at both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios theme parks.
Additionally, we were given a first look at Disney Skyliner, the airborne gondola system which will connect Riviera Resort with both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Images from the Expo indicate the gondola route will match predictions made earlier this year.
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, the fourteenth DVC property, will open on Monday, July 17.
Other Walt Disney World projects confirmed during the Expo include Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway which will replace The Great Movie Ride at Hollywood Studios, "Ratatouille" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" inspired attractions and a space-themed restaurant for Epcot, a clone of Shanghai Disneyland's "Tron" rollercoaster for Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom and a Star Wars-themed hotel.
The Avengers and Spider-Man are coming to Disney California Adventure, although no specific details were revealed. Elsewhere,DCA's Paradise Pier will be renamed--and rethemed--Pixar Pier.
And finally, Disney Cruise Line has added another ship. With three ships slated for construction, the DCL fleet will soon expand to a total of seven vessels.
