Disney Vacation Club has suspended direct sales of ownership in Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Update: Approximately 48 hours after being removed, Polynesian reappeared as an option in the add-on tool.
As Disney approaches the opening of its new timeshare tower on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon, individuals can no longer purchase points for Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. Despite being branded a "sold out" resort, DVC continued to offer Polynesian points to both current owners and first-time buyers at a flat rate of $250 per point with no discounts or incentives. In recent days, the resort has been removed from DVC's web-based add-on tool and sales Guides are telling prospective buyers that they are no longer able to sell the resort.
This pattern is similar to what occurred with The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa prior to the resort's recent expansion. In spring 2021 after announcing that the Big Pine Key building would be converted to villas, DVC halted point sales entirely. The purchase option returned in early 2022 when DVC began actively selling the new units with lower incentive pricing.
Since the Polynesian tower was announced in 2022, questions have persisted as to whether the new building would be rolled into the current association for Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows or exist as a separate entity. Back in December, Disney Vacation Club representative seemingly confirmed that the two would be merged. However more than 3 months since making those statements, no additional clarification has been forthcoming.
Update: By mid-day on Wednesday, March 13, the Polynesian reappeared in the add-on tool. The reasons for its disappearance and reappearance remain unknown. We have reached out to a Disney Vacation Club representative for clarification and will update if any new information is received.
The new tower is scheduled to open before the end of 2024.
