Three months after refurbishment work began around Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, the first renovated villas are now available to Disney Vacation Club members.
In late September, crews began work on the first wholesale renovation at Bay Lake Tower. The first rooms have now reopened, sporting updated decor throughout including the pull-down convertible sofa beds in Deluxe Studios plus the living space of larger villas.
The twin-size sleeper chair has been eliminated in favor of fold down twin beds in One and Two Bedroom Villas.
Artwork throughout the villa reflects the different lands of the Magic Kingdom, including this Fantasyland-themed print above the dining table. The images are done in a Mary Blair-style similar to the legendary Disney artist's work on It's A Small World and the large mural in the concourse of the Contemporary tower.
Most of the newly refurbished rooms are located on the upper floors of the south side of the tower. Lower rooms in this area will close after the first of the year. The skybridge connecting Bay Lake Tower to the A-frame tower will also close in January. The full refurbishment project is expected to last at least until September 2025.
