Although there is no direct DVC tie-in, we simply must encourage fans of Disney's Contemporary Resort to check-out Travel Editor Mary Ellen Botter's wonderful article in The Dallas Morning News.
In surprising detail, this article delves into the history of this iconic Walt Disney World resort and moves right up through the ongoing renovation of the property. Insightful quotes are included from a number of Disney officials ranging from the VP of resort operations to the hotel's general manager.
There is a brief mention of the Disney Vacation Club within the aritcle, but it's little more than a reference to the article published earlier this week in the Orlando Sentinel.
Consider this required reading for any fans of the Contemporary and current / future DVC members anxiously awaiting an announcement regarding that new 15-story tower.
Don't miss the "Then and Now" comparison at the bottom of the article which compares numerous aspects of the resort from its 1971 opening up through the year 2008. Example:
THEN - The Grand Canyon with juice, two eggs with bacon, ham or sausage, toast or croissant, jam, beverage, $1.95
NOW - Steakhouse Platter (breakfast) with two eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, potatoes and biscuit, $11.99.
