The eighteenth Disney Vacation Club development will open in 2027, replacing what was formerly known as Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge.
Disney blogger Scott Gustin reports that the former Reflections resort has been renamed Disney Lakeshore Lodge and is now targeted for a 2027 opening.
Reflections was originally announced back in 2018. Construction began in late 2019 but was later derailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The site remained idle for more than four years, until Disney showed signs of reviving the project in mid 2024.
According to Gustin, Disney Lakeshore Lodge will retain the same footprint as the orignal Reflections plans. That project called for around 900 units, a combination of Disney Vacation Club villas and hotel rooms. It is not known if Disney plans to continue moving forward with the addition of hotel rooms, or if the focus has shifted to a dedicated Disney Vacation Club resort. Early details revealed large stand-along stilted buildings, a restaurant themed to the Disney animated film 'The Princess and the Frog' and a large pool complex which apparently included a lazy river.
In the months leading up to this announcement, some have speculated that the Lakeshore Lodge project would be legally tied to another recent DVC development: The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. It may be years before any clarity is received on this topic.
