On June 30, 2011, Disney Vacation Development (DVD) declared three two-bedroom villas for the Disney Vacaton Club (DVC) inventory at Disney's Bay Lake Tower at the Contemporary Resort. With this declaration, DVD has now declared 100% of Bay Lake Tower for the DVC inventory. This means that the entire Bay Lake Tower resort -- all 267 two-bedroom villas and all 14 Grand Villas -- are available for booking by DVC members using their Vacation Club points.
The villas are located on the 1st floor of Bay Lake Tower and were previously used by the Disney Vacation Development as a sales office and preview center for resort tours. The Condo Related document was recorded with the Orange County Comptroller on August 18, 2011.
It has taken almost three years for the entire Bay Lake Tower resort to be declared for the DVC inventory. The first declaration was made on July 2, 2008.
The Bay Lake Tower resort has about 5,733,530 Vacation Club points. As of July 31, 2011, about 90.06% of its points have been sold to the public. This percentage includes 38,367 points that DVD has reacquired through foreclosures, exercising its right of first refusal on resales, and other buy backs. Although sales at Bay Lake Tower have slowed considerably in August 2011, DVD has announced that it is expected to sell out by late Summer.
In addition to declaring the last three two-bedroom villas, DVD also formally declared two commercial phases of Bay Lake Tower for the DVC inventory. One phase includes the Cove Bar, which is the bar located next to the BLT pool on the ground level. The other commercial phase contains the Top of the World Lounge on the tower's 16th floor. Bay Lake Tower DVC members have no ownership interest in TOTWL and Observation Area, or in any commercial unit at the resort. Furthermore, DVC owners do not derive any revenue from commercial units.
