The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel are undergoing their first major refurbishment since the resort's debut in 2009. Here is a detailed look at the interior of a renovated Disney Vacation Club Two Bedroom Villa.

The highlight for many guests is the addition of the pull-down sofa bed. These convertible units provide a solid sleeping surface and traditional mattress which folds up into the wall during the day. Artwork on the queen-size bed features the character of Flower from Disney's 'Bambi.'
The pull-down twin bed remains unchanged. Grand Californian was one of the first DVC resorts to include this feature. While the design is slightly different than the pull-down currently being installed, these units have apparently stood the test of time. Carpet throughout the living space has been replaced with (presumably) laminate flooring. The living room is accented with a large colorful area rug.
The dining table has been reupholstered, but the seating, lighting and large mirror are the same.
All new appliances have been installed in the kitchen. However no changes are immediately visible in the tile flooring, backsplash, cabinets or countertops.
There does not appear to be any changes in the villa's 3/4 bathroom, with the vanity, tile, wall coverings and artwork all matching prior decor.
The master bedroom received colorful new carpeting, a change from the dark green previously installed in the room. The pass-through panel to the master bathroom remains in place, a feature that was eliminated post-refurbishment in several other DVC resorts.
Again, changes to the master bathroom appear to be rather modest. Wall-mounted soap and shampoo dispensers have been installed since our last visit. However the large jacuzzi tub remains and other aspects of the bathroom appear unchanged.
The guest bedroom received new flooring but all of the furniture is the same. This includes desks in both bedrooms, a feature that has been removed from other DVCs during refurbishment.
The guest bathroom again demonstrates few changes from the prior decor.
Owners who were hoping for a more dramatic redesign may be disappointed. However, the modest nature of the refurbishment may be a testament to the durability of furnishings used when the resort was first introduced. All of the furniture and fixtures appear to be in excellent condition, perhaps been refinished or touched-up where necessary. The decor continues to faithfully reflect the Craftsman design of the resort itself.
