In his lastest Blue Sky Alert, Disney blogger Honor Hunter reviews proposals being considered for the Europe's Disneyland Paris Resort. Posting on his Blue Sky Disney blog (http://blueskydisney.blogspot.com/), Hunter claims that DVC units are part of the plans being reviewed by Disney execs--and the plans could even go beyond DLP itself.
Saratoga Springs was not originally on track to be the seventh DVC resort. In September 2001, Disney issued a press release announcing the construction of a new Vacation Club property adjacent to the Eagle Pines golf course. The resort was not actually given a name, but in lieu of any other label it is frequently referred to as the “Eagle Pines” resort in DVC circles.
The Blue Sky Disney blog had some comments regarding future DVC development in a May 25th posting:
An article printed in the Springfield, MO News-Leader speculates about a possible Disney link to a theme park development in Newton County near Branson, MO. Per the article, a man affiliated with a company called ARM Risk attended a commissioner’s meeting on April 12th and proceeded to make inquiries regarding possible changes to the county’s road system to accommodate a proposed theme park project. Materials given to the commissioners indicate first-phase construction costs of $1.1 billion, a 100-acre theme park and six hotels plus a number of ancillary projects.
An article posted this week at JimHillMedia.com offers commentary on the overbuilding at Walt Disney World which has left the resort with (according to Mr. Hill) around 5000 rooms that it is unable to fill most nights of the year.
