Disney has non-theme park resort destinations in Hilton Head, South Carolina, Vero Beach, Florida and soon on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Could Myrtle Beach be next?
Website Screamscape.com is reporting a rumor that Disney may be considering a land purchase in Myrtle Beach, SC. Here is an exceprt from their report:
"I’m not saying it’s true yet… only that I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney’s next resort project popped up here, especially since Disney already has some experience working in the area through their DVC Resort about four hours to the south in Hilton Head, SC. Given the area’s prime beach location that is already a big draw for family getaways, I just think it does make sense."

Disney building at Myrtle Beach does make some sense...particularly if DVC were in the mix as points sales would help absorb a lot of the construction costs. And we've heard repeatedly how Disney hopes to build mini entertainment complexes at some point in the future.
Only time will tell if there is any truth to this report, as was the case with the Hawaii rumors last fall, or it's another hoax like last year's the Branson, Missouri project.
