One of the two Disney Vacation Club resorts impacted by the weekend's hurricane has reopened to guests.

With Hurricane Matthew about to bear down on the eastern seaboard, two Disney Vacation Club resorts are proactively taking steps to accommodate guests.

Twenty years ago, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort played a role in preparations for the Atlanta Summer Olympic Games.

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort was the third property added to the timeshare program and a cherished vacation spot for many members. But the lack of a nearby theme park isn't the only aspect that separates Hilton Head from the likes of Disney's Polynesian Village Resort and the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel.

It appears that Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort will be spared any direct impact from hurricane "Irene."
