Honolulu Mayor Receives DVC Preview

Disney Hawaii Resort (copyright 2008 Disney)Today representatives from The Walt Disney Company shared their resort plans with Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann.  Among the details revealed for the first time are the make-up of the new resort--350 hotel rooms and 480 Disney Vacation Club villas.

The combined resort hotel / timeshare is being constructed on 21 acres of beachfront property located in the Ko Olina area on the western side of Oahu.

A report in Pacific Business News provides additional details on the development:



The resort will feature two towers, gardens, pools, water slides, a fake volcano caldera, spa, banquet and meeting space, and wedding facilities.

Disney characters will also have a visible presence at the resort. 

The resort, which was initially announced more than 12 months ago, remains on-target to open in 2011.   Groundbreaking is expected to occur sometime in the next several weeks.
