Those interested in previewing Aulani guest rooms will soon have at least one new alternative...perhaps two.
For the last two and a half years the Disney Vacation Club preview center at Disneyland was home to a set of model rooms for the Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Spa. But that changed earlier this week when the Grand Californian model rooms were permanently closed. Demolition will soon begin and by April guests will be able to tour new models which replicate the look and feel of the accommodations at Disney's Aulani resort in Hawai'i.
In the meantime, prospective members will be taken over to the Grand Californian to tour a unit in the now-completed DVC villa wing.
Meanwhile, we are also hearing that the temporary preview center in Hawai'i may soon close. As early as February, sources say that Disney hopes to have a completed unit available for prospect tours within the Aulani facility itself. Special measures will have to be taken in order to insulate visitors from the ongoing construction. Most areas of the resort will remain off-limits but providing an on-property model can only help guests visualize the facility as Aulani approaches completion.
