While vacationing at Disneyland we managed to learn a few new things about the Aulani resort development including the date on which points will go on sale.
Following are some details gleaned from Disney Vacation Club sources on the west coast:
...DVC will host its own series of informational meetings on July 1-7 following the D23 session. Members and prospects can expect to receive email invites in the next day or two.
...prices and point charts will be available July 1 in conjunction with the start of the member marketing sessions.
...expect the seasons on the Aulani charts to be a radical departure from what we have seen in the past. They will attempt to mirror demand for a destination like Hawai'i, which is much different than Disney theme parks.
...point values are not expected to be a radical departure from recent program additions. Expect some dates to be more than current charts while others are cheaper.
...there will be multiple views / booking categories.
...a decision has not yet been made regarding the future of the DVC model rooms at Disneyland. They will remain in the current Grand Californian design as long as VGC points are available. Only after VGC sales have concluded will they be converted to Aulani or some other property.
...a temporary DVC preview center is planned for the Ko Olina Station shopping center while the resort itself is still under construction.
...Hawai'i based sales staff has been in California undergoing training for several weeks now.
...Tokyo sales staff have also been training in anticipation of the Tokyo Disneyland sales center opening in July.
...DVC will be opening a sales presence in San Francisco--not a full-blown Doorway to Dreams, but still a location where interested parties can learn more about the program. Significant interest from the Japanese is anticipated.
Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
