Vero Beach Resort to Reopen Friday

With Hurricane Dorian now making its way northward, the Disney Vacation Club resort will soon reopen to guests.

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is scheduled to reopen to guests on Friday, September 6, 2019.

The resort closed on Sunday, September 1, allowing guests and Cast Members to evacuate in advance of Hurricane Dorian. Had the storm continued the west-northwest path it followed in from the Atlantic, the Disney resort was poised to receive a devastating blow from what was a Category 5 storm. Fortunately, the storm turned northward, largely sparing the state of Florida.

While the property’s condition has not been disclosed, the rapid resumption of operations suggests the Vero Beach Resort avoided significant damage. TCPalm.com reports that Dorian caused beach erosion all along the Treasure Coast

Disney’s Vero Beach Resort previously closed for about a week in September 2017 as Hurricane Irma made its way across the state.

Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort remains closed as Dorian, now a Category 3 storm, continues along the Atlantic coast.
