Disney Vacation Club recently announced some policy changes regarding the number of wait-list requests members may have active at a given time. The statement is a bit ambiguous in exactly how these limits will be applied, so we went looking for some answers.
According to the statement issued by DVC, members are limited to "two active wait-list requests per Membership, per use year." So what exactly constitutes as single active wait-list request? DVCNews.com contacted a DVC spokesperson to review several scenarios and gauge exactly how the limits will be applied.
Scenario 1: Member wishes to vacation from January 1-7. The first two choices of resorts are Saratoga Springs and the Beach Club Villas. Since the member would be wait-listing for the same dates at two separate resorts, does that represent one active wait-list request or two active wait-list requests?
Answer: Two active wait-list requests. It does not matter that the dates are identical, a member may only have two active requests at a time.
Scenario 2: Member wishes to vacation at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas. The Animal Kingdom Villas has multiple room categories--Value, Standard, Savanna and Concierge. The member's preferred accommodation is a Savanna or Concierge-class room. Does a wait-list request for the same dates, same resort in two different room classes represent one or two active wait-list requests?
Answer: Two active wait-list requests. Since the Savanna and Concierge villas are separate categories, two wait-list requests are necessary in order to go on standby for both categories.
The bottom line is this: One waitlist request is any unique combination of dates, resort, room size and room class (category), and members may have only two active requests for a single year. These limits apply regardless of the number of points owned, number of Home resorts owned, number of planned vacations in a year or any other similar criteria.
