In 2009 Disney Vacation Club moved its exchange affiliation from Interval International to RCI. One benefactor from the move has been competing timeshare developer Wyndham Worldwide Corp, owner of Group RCI.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, RCI added approximately 135,000 member families in luring DVC business away from Interval International. This addition represented the only noteworthy growth in RCI's member base in a year-to-year comparison with 2008.
However, overall revenue declined as RCI was required to fund capital expenditures in order to integrate the Disney Vacation Club business. According to Wyndham chairman and CEO Stephen Holmes:
"We're spending quite a bit of money making sure they're fully integrated into our system and that we have a seamless operation with them,"
