This week Disney Vacation Club apparently reversed-course on a month-old minimum add-on threshold for points at the Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
In November 2008 DVC announced that effective January 15, 2009 members would be able to add no fewer than 100 points at the Bay Lake Tower. However multiple sources have reported that the add-on threshold has been reduced back to 25 points. All DVC members are eligible to purchase an add-on contract of 25 or more points at the Bay Lake Tower.
Purchases of 25-49 points are not eligible for financing through DVC--full payment must be made via check or credit card.
Purchases of 50-99 points can be financed but the full price of $112 per point applies with no sales incentives.
Add-ons of 100 or more points can be financed and are also eligible for incentives including the current "free cruise" offer.
So far indications are that the 25-pt add on minimum has been fully reinstated with no conditions or time limits.
DVC had also previously announced that the minimum first-time purchase threshold for the Bay Lake Tower would increase from 160 to 200 points. That policy change was abandoned before it had even taken effect.
