For the eleventh consecutive month, Disney’s Riviera Resort led all Disney Vacation Club properties in direct sales for September 2024. In second place was a resort that hadn’t claimed that spot in almost three and a half years.
One year ago, 274,177 Disney Vacation Club points were sold in September 2023 for the 12 DVC resorts located at World Disney World and The Villas at Disneyland Hotel. Most of those points (180,536 points) were for The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort as Disney made a final push to sell out the resort.
In September 2024, Disney sold only 152,775 DVC points for the same group of resorts. It is the fewest number of points sold since April 2024 when 119,573 points were sold. Riviera lead the pack with 85,132 points. In second place, with 22,455 points, was Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. The last time Saratoga Springs placed second in sales was in May 2021 when it sold 27,827 points to Riviera’s 61,375 points.
For the fifth month in a row, no sales were recorded for Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. On October 1, 2024, Disney resumed sales for the Polynesian so there should be a number of deeds recorded by Orange County Comptroller before the end of this month.
A number of large point deeds were sold in September. Saratoga Springs and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas each had a 1,000-point deed sold in the month. Riviera sold three 600-point deeds, while Saratoga Springs sold one 600-point deed. The largest multiple deed purchased was 700 points split into two 350-point deeds for Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas.
Disney’s Riviera Resort — In September, Riviera sold 85,132 points. Although it is the second month in a row that sales have declined for Riviera, September’s total sales are slightly higher than the 77,494 points the resort averaged over the prior 12 months.
Disney has sold 4,780,415 Riviera points, about 70.9% of the resort’s 6,739,966 total points. If future Riviera sales maintain that pace, it will be about 25 months before the resort is completely sold out.
Three Fixed Week deeds were sold for the resort in September, all for Standard View Deluxe Studios in weeks 7, 46, and 49. Disney has sold 132 Fixed Week deeds for the resort with Standard View Deluxe Studios (73 deeds) and Preferred View Deluxe Studios (39 deeds) being the most popular accommodation types.
Disney has declared 269 of the 341 vacation homes for the DVC inventory at Disney’s Riviera Resort. There are still 72 vacation homes that have not yet been declared and are still under the control of Disney. The declared inventory accounts for 5,359,939 points, or 79.5% of the resort’s total points.
The Villas at Disneyland Hotel — In September, approximately 20,205 points were sold for Disneyland Hotel. Disney has sold 781,534 points, about 24.0% of the resort’s estimated 3,255,992 total points.
Overall, Disneyland Hotel has averaged 45,973 points in monthly sales since sales commenced in May 2013. But its sales have been heavily weighted towards its initial marketing period. The resort averaged 97,479 points during its first five months of sales but has averaged only 24,511 points over the last 12 months
The number of points sold for the Disneyland Hotel can only be estimated. The data available from the Orange County (California) Clerk-Recorder’s Office is limited and the exact number of points sold cannot be compiled directly; instead, the number of points can only be estimated based on the Transfer Tax paid on each deed.
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort — In September, 6,445 points were sold for the Fort Wilderness cabins, DVC’s newest resort. Disney has now sold 51,907 points, which is about 1.9% of the resort’s estimated 2,780,943 total points.
No Fixed Week deeds were sold for The Cabins in September. To date, seven Fixed Week deeds have been sold for the resort.
Disney has declared 63 cabins for the DVC inventory. DVC members will be able to book using points up to 63 cabins on any given Use Day. There are still another 300 cabins that have not yet been declared. Disney will be able to use these 300 cabins for cash rentals or any other purpose it desires.
The sales data includes all 12 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds. Thanks to Chris from dvc.market for assisting in the compilation of the sales data.
