January 2022 sales rose by 12.3% as a follow-up to December 2021 sales which posted numbers 14.2% higher than the previous month.

124,479 DVC points were sold, the second consecutive month that sales for the 11 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World topped the 100,000-point mark.  January 2022 sales rose over 40% compared to the same month in 2021 when only 87,124 points were sold.  However, the global COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent inflation are still impacting DVC sales.  In the 117 months before the pandemic started in 2020, DVC sales averaged 173,756 points a month and only 16 months recorded fewer point sales than January 2022.

Disney’s Riviera Resort accounted for over two-thirds of the points sold in January 2022.  Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas was second in sales with 11,710 points, the first time the resort topped the 10,000-point mark since January 2017.

In early February, Disney introduced new incentives for Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.  It will be several weeks before we see if those incentives stimulate sales for Bay Lake Tower.  In January 2022, Disney sold 2,690 points for the resort, which has averaged 3,038 points over the last 12 months.

For the fifth month in a row, no points were sold for the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.  Disney recently declared 101 Resort Studios for the new addition at the resort and sales of points for those studios should begin in the next few weeks.

Disney’s Riviera Resort —  In January 2021, 84,135 points were sold for Riviera, the third best month in sales for the resort since the start of the pandemic.

Disney has sold 2,627,445, or 39.0%, of Riviera’s 6.7 million points.   The resort has averaged 77,766 points in monthly sales, which includes several months in 2020 when sales for all DVC resorts were severely impacted by the COVID pandemic.

Disney has declared 167 of the Riviera’s 341 vacation homes.  In terms of points, the declared inventory accounts for about 3,327,263 points, or 49.4% of the resort’s total points.

Four Fixed Week deeds were sold for Riviera in January, bringing to 94 the number such deeds sold.  58 Fixed Week deeds have been sold for the last six weeks of the year, including 14 deeds for Week #52, which normally falls between Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The sales data includes all 11 DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort.  Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.  Thanks to Chris for assisting in the compilation of the sales data.
