Aulani, Riviera to Cross $200 Threshold in 2021

Financial News & Pricing

The two actively-selling Disney Vacation Club resorts will soon hit a new milestone with their prices.

Disney's Riviera Resort

DVC has revealed that the base price for points at Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas and Disney's Riviera Resort will rise to $201 per point effective February 6, 2021. This is an increase of $6 per point over the current $195 rate.

While many of the older "sold out" resorts have been priced above $200 point point for several years, this represents a new high for resorts being actively marketed. The last increase occurred about one year prior when the rate rose from $188 to $195 per point in January 2020.

The price increase comes as post-pandemic sales have slowed, and with increasing evidence that Reflections - A Disney Lakeside Lodge has been cancelled. During the recent 2020 Condominium Association Meeting, Disney Vacation Club executives reiterated that a future DVC destination proposed for Disneyland Resort is still on track. No mention was made of Reflections which was in the early stages of ground clearing when the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

With millions of unsold points at both locations, DVC focuses its marketing efforts on the newest locations. Expect sales incentives to remain in place, which will take the final price for most purchases down below $200 each. DVC is also known for using the size of its discounts to regulate its sales activities. Current incentives provide discounts of $15 per point for the purchase of 200 points by a new member. Existing owners save $20 per point for a 200-point add on.

These incentives are due to expire on February 5, 2021. Expect a new wave of incentives to debut alongside the higher base price.
