New DVC Sales Pitch Targets Runners

Just in time for the 25th Anniversary Walt Disney World Marathon, Disney Vacation Club has begun to leverage its Guaranteed Weeks offering at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins to appeal to guests participating in the popular running events.  Dubbed "Guaranteed Event Weeks", the program will secure a room annually for one of four different Walt Disney World running events throughout the duration of the contract.  

Events available through this offer include:

• Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna
• Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend presented by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
• Star Wars™—The Dark Side Half Marathon Weekend
• Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend presented by MISFIT™

The Guaranteed Weeks program is a throwback to the traditional timeshare model in which ownership is tied to a specific week and unit size every year.  The program was introduced back in 2010 at Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas.  It was later presented as an option at Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows and now Copper Creek.  

Fixed week owners are required to purchase 10% more points than their designated week would normally cost.  The week is automatically booked in their name year after year with no risk of being shut out due to lack of availability.  The fixed week purchase also includes a guarantee that their points will cover the week's stay through the end of the contract, regardless of any reallocations to the points charts over that time period.  

Guaranteed Weeks owners can also opt-out of their accommodation in any given year and use the points toward any other resort, dates or villa size.  

With the Guaranteed Event Week, Disney Vacation Club is presumably insuring that the points purchased will cover the runDisney event week regardless of how dates may change year-to-year.  

Guaranteed Event Week owners will also receive early registration privileges for the marathon, half marathon, 10K races and Challenges.  The owner can purchase up to 5 early registrations per year for family or guests.  Note that this benefit is considered "incidental" and is subject to modification or termination.
