Direct sales of Disney Vacation Club points in November 2016 were down compared to prior months while increasing year-over-year for the same period in 2015.
Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
For the month ended November 30, 2016, 117,866 points were sold for the DVC resorts in Florida and South Carolina, the smallest point total since February 2016 when 96,025 points were sold. Compared to October 2016, November sales were down 21.0%. However, comparing to the prior calendar year, sales rose 19% from November 2015 sales of just 98,942 points.
The slowdown in sales is typical for this time of year. Every year since 2011 recorded sales in November have been less than the previous month. The slowdown in sales at this time of year could be due to delays in filing and recording of sold deeds rather than the actual number of deeds sold to the public. The Thanksgiving holiday may cause staffing issues at DVC or the Orange County Comptroller, which records all deeds sold in Orange County. In addition, some disruptions in normal work assignments may occur beginning in late November as DVC focuses its attention on the Annual Meeting, which is held in early December every year.
Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows — In November 2016, 92,197 points were sold for the Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows. The resort has now sold about 55.4% of its four million points. Based on its rate of sales for this year, it will take about 14 months, or until January 2018, before the Polynesian is sold out.
November’s sales were the second lowest for calendar year 2016. But it would have been the third highest monthly sales total in 2015. This again shows the impact that sales incentives, which started in February 2016, have had on the Polynesian.
One Guaranteed Week deed was sold for the Polynesian in November 2016. Ninety Guaranteed Week deeds have been sold for the resort, but only three have been sold in the last six months. About half of the Guaranteed Week deeds - 46 - are for the last five weeks of the year.
On October 17, 2016, Disney Vacation Development declared 46 more studios for the DVC inventory. In terms of points, 2,989,488 points (74.1%) are now officially part of the Polynesian’s DVC inventory. There are still 96 studios and four bungalows that have yet to be declared and are under the control of Disney Vacation Development.
Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas — The Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances, which records deeds for Aulani, does not update its website as timely as the other county clerks that service the other DVC resorts. Sales data for November 2016 is not yet available. However, in October 2016 Aulani sold 338 deeds containing 43,424 points. This represents a slight increase over the 42,880 points that the resort has averaged over the last six months, but well below the 52,747 points it has averaged over the last 12 months.
The sales data includes all nine DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort, Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort, and Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds, and the Hawaii Bureau of Conveyances.
