Disney Vacation Club is poised to increase the prices it charges for points on older properties with some locations going up as much as $25 per point.
On January 6, 2015 Disney Vacation Club will reportedly increase prices for all ten properties currently designated as "sold out." According to numbers posted to dvcresalemarket.com, most locations will see increases of $5 per point including--Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas and Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort--while three older resorts will see their rates rise $25 per point from $130 to $155 each. The $25 increases apply to Disney's Beach Club Villas, Disney's BoardWalk Villas and the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge.
Updated prices for each property are as follows:
Resort | Rate per point |
Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort | $110 |
Disney's Vero Beach Resort | $110 |
Disney's Old Key West Resort | $135 |
Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa | $135 |
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas | $155 |
Disney's Beach Club Villas | $155 |
Disney's BoardWalk Villas | $155 |
Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge | $155 |
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort | $170 |
Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel | $170 |
Although these properties are regarded as "sold out" and not actively marketed by Disney Vacation Club, persistent buyers can often purchase ownership direct from DVC. DVC periodically reacquires points at older resorts through its Right of First Refusal, foreclosures and other similar means. The direct sale prices listed above are as much as double the price buyers would pay on the secondary market through a broker like The Timeshare Store.
With sales of Disney's Polynesian Villas & Bungalows likely to begin in mid-January, expect an increase on the price of the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort as well. Our sources suggest Grand Floridian could rise to $180 per point. The intial offering price for the Polynesian Villas may come in slightly under that rate.
