In 2012, Disney Vacation Development sold 2,264,717 points for the nine Disney Vacation Club resorts for which sales data is available. Although direct sales averaged 188,726 points a month in 2012, December sales were the year's lowest wtih only 115,281 points were sold.
The December 2012 monthly total is the lowest monthly sales total in well over two years. Overall, direct sales in 2012 were down 8.2% compared to 2011 when 2,467,550 points were sold.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas led all DVC resorts in sales for both the month of December and for the 2012 calendar year. 1,305,795 Animal Kingdom Villas points were sold in 2012, including 64,252 points in December. Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, which is no longer being actively marketed by Disney Vacation Development, was second in sales for the year with 447,947 points sold. For the month, 16,325 points were sold. Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort, which also is no longer being actively marketed, had 300,081 points sold in 2012, including 16,181 points in December.

The sales data includes all seven DVC resorts at Walt Disney World, as well as Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort. Point sales data is not available for the Villas at Disney's Grand California Hotel or for Aulani, Disney Vacation Club Villas. The data is compiled from deeds filed by Disney Vacation Development and recorded with the Orange County (FL) Comptroller, the Indian River County (FL) Clerk of Court, and the Beaufort County (SC) Register of Deeds.
Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas - Disney Vacation Development has now sold about 80.9% of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas' 7.4 million total points. Since DVD cannot sell more than 98% of the points at any resort, it still has about 1.26 million Animal Kingdom points that it can sell to the general public..
In December, DVD reacquired 6,185 Animal Kingdom Villas points through foreclosure proceedings, exercising its Right of First Refusal on resale transactions, and other buyback reasons. For the year, DVD reacquired a total of 101,002 Animal Kingdom Villas points.
DVD has declared 88.63% of Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas for the DVC inventory. This means that on any given Use Day Members can book up to 88.63% of the resort using points. The rest of the resort is owned and controlled by DVD, which it can use for cash reservations and other reasons. The most recent declaration of Animal Kingdom Villas Units for the DVC inventory was made on July 23, 2012, and DVD still has about 572,000 points that have been declared but not yet sold to the general public.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort - Despite no longer being actively marketed by Disney, Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort sold 300,081 points in 2012, including 16,181 points in December. In 2011, when it was still being actively marketed for about half the year, DVD sold 979,121 points for Bay Lake Tower.
As with Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, Disney Vacation Development cannot sell more than 98% of Bay Lake Tower's 5.7 million points to the general public. DVD has only about 97,272 points left that it can sell at the resort. The October Use Year is in shortest supply with about 7,178 points left unsold.
In December, Disney Vacation Development reacquired 4,520 Bay Lake Tower point via foreclosure proceedings. For the year, it reacquired a total of 55,272 Bay Lake points.
