Florida Issues Stay-at-Home Order Through May 2

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a statewide stay-at-home order which goes into effect on April 2, 2020 and will run for at least 30 days.

Walt Disney World is effectively shut down through the end of April as Florida residents are ordered to remain at home for the next 30 days. Under Governor DeSantis' order, residents are required to remain indoors unless pursuing or providing "essential" services. 

More than 30 states and the District of Columbia have now announced mandatory restrictions as the nation grapples with the Coronavirus. Florida has drawn criticism for failing to take action, leaving public beaches open to spring break crowds as other states had already begun to close public spaces and nonessential businesses. 



Orange and Osceola Counties, in which portions of Walt Disney World reside, had announced their own stay-at-home orders a week ago. 

Disney is not currently accepting hotel reservations prior to June 1. Disney Vacation Club is permitting reservations for all dates. However, until a reopening date for the resorts is announced, bookings are being cancelled 7 days prior to arrival and points returned without the normal Holding account restrictions,
