Dramatic changes to WDW Annual Pass program

WDW Vacation Planning News

Walt Disney World has overhauled its Annual Pass program, introducing several new options with blockout dates.  Disney Vacation Club members have access to one pass not available to the general public, with member discounts offered on all options.

Additionally, guests will pay a bit more for the Tables in Wonderland card, and to park at Disney's theme parks.

For Disney Vacation Club members, Disney has effectively replaced the prior two Annual Pass offerings--the Walt Disney World Annual Pass and Premium Annual Pass--with three options.

Disney Platinum Plus Pass:  Includes admission to the four Walt Disney World theme parks, two water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports and Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course.  No blockout dates.  DVC member price is $729 plus tax for a new purchase and $619 plus tax for renewal.

Disney Platinum Pass:  Admission to the four Walt Disney World theme parks with no blockout dates.  Member price is $649 plus tax for a new pass and $549 for a renewal.

Disney Gold Pass:  Admission to the four Disney theme parks with blockout dates (Dec 17-31, 2015; Jan 1, 2016; March 19-Apr 1, 2016; Dec 16-31, 2016; Jan 1-2 2017).  DVC price is $549 plus tax new and $466 plus tax for renewal.  This pass is only available to DVC members and Florida residents

All three tickets offer admission to the four Walt Disney World theme parks with park hopping, complimentary parking, a yearly MagicBand and downloads of images from Disney's PhotoPass service.

Disney has also revamped its Florida Resident offerings with a Silver Pass, Weekday Select Pass and Epcot After 4 Pass available only to locals.

Disney last inceased Walt Disney World ticket prices in February 2015.  The Platinum Plus Pass and Platinum Pass are nearly identical to the previous Premium Annual Pass and Annual Pass.  These rates represent member price increases of $120 on the Premium Annual Pass / Platinum Plus and $80 on the AP / Platinum pass for a new purchase.  The Gold pass--with blockout dates--is $20 more the than prior DVC AP rate of $529.

Rates apply to all guests ages 3+.  The new rates go into effect Sunday, October 4, 2015.

Meanwhile, Disney has also announced that the daily parking rate at its theme parks has increased to $20 (from $17) and the Tables in Wonderland dining discount card is now $150 per year for passholders and DVC members, up from $100.
