The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that Disney Vacation Club has struck a deal with reseller Vacatia as a preferred agent. Members who contact DVC seeking to sell their ownership interest will be referred to Vacatia or DVC's other preferred partner Fidelity Resales.
Disney Vacation Club resort contracts hold their value better than most in the timeshare industry. While many timeshares return pennies on the dollar when sold to new owners, many DVC properties have experienced an increase in value within a few years of their purchase.
Note that this "preferred" reseller designation does not appear to be of any practical value. There are a number of reputable resellers who specialize in second-hand transfers of Disney Vacation Club ownership, including DVCNews.com sponsor The Timeshare Store.
Vacatia has recently added a Disney Vacation Club landing page ti their website with contact information and an overview of the sale process. A low introductory commission offer is available for a limited time.
The Vacatia website also contains details regarding the rental of timeshare accommodations. Vacatia is initiating a pilot program for rental of owner-sourced inventory, but the majority of their rental inventory comes from direct resort partnerships and aggregator partnerships. According to Chief Marketing Officer Mike Janes, Vacatia is "the only dedicated resort rental marketplace with instant booking."
Vacatia currently represents 343 individual resorts in 15 destinations with rapid growth anticipated. Per Janes, Vacatia currently has "a long waiting list of resort and owners who want to work directly with us."
