Five years ago today DVCNews.com opened for business.
The DVCNews concept actually began as an email newsletter back on January 1, 2007. In those early weeks, a few dozen subscribers received our weekly Disney Vacation Club news summary in their mailboxes.

But by mid-year it became clear that weekly reporting on DVC happenings was not sufficient. Members wanted a place to find answers to their Frequently Asked Questions, resort photographs, information on purchasing Disney Vacation Club points, sales prices, rental information and so much more.
On September 23, 2007 DVCNews.com went live for the first time.
Later came the desire for more immediacy in reporting--discussion forums, RSS news feeds, Twitter, Facebook and yes...even an updated newsletter.
On a personal level these last 5 years have been incredibly rewarding. I have met so many wonderful fans of the site, Disney executives and Disney Imagineers. Other members of the Disney web community like Deb Wills and Matt Hochberg are friends. The site has had an amazing group of contributors over the years, folks like Marilyn, Denise, Wil, Dave, Carrie and Rita (and others I'm probably forgetting.)
And I can't forget the support from folks at The Timeshare Store, DVCRequest.com, Owner's Locker and others.
Thanks to everyone for a great 5 years. Here's to many more...
