Wilderness Lodge Construction Permit Filed

Disney has filed a permit for construction work at the address of Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, a likely precursor to the long awaited villa refurbishment.

On June 3, 2022, a permit was recorded for "general construction" at 801 Timberline, the location of the Wilderness Lodge's original Disney Vacation Club timeshare development. While the permit description is vague, it matches what we normally see on permits for such renovations. Additionally the contractor listed on the permit--New Horizons Construction Services--is the same firm who renovated the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa back in late 2021.

As for the start date of the work, that remains unclear. In preparing for the Grand Floridian refurbishment, Disney filed permits back in July 2021. Work did not actually begin until 4 months later.

Boulder Ridge Villas--originally known as Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge until the 2016 opening of Copper Creek Villas & Cabins--was once scheduled for a complete refurbishment back in 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic seemingly derailed those plans. More recently, Disney Vacation Club has been promoting a 2022 refurbishment with specific dates unknown. DVC Senior VP Bill Diercksen made reference to the Boulder Ridge refurb in the recent issue of Disney Files Magazine.

This Wilderness Lodge construction permit contains an expiration date of April 10, 2023. These end dates do tend to be conservative; crews may wrap-up work well before next spring.
