Disney Vacation Club has reportedly altered its stance on a controversial room configuration matter at the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins.
According to DVC Member Services, the presence of a tub or shower in Deluxe Studio Villas at Copper Creek will now be guaranteed prior to the guest's arrival.
Due design challenges encountered while converting hotel rooms to the new villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, a total of 41 Deluxe Studio Villas will be equipped with a walk-in shower only. Another 37 Studio rooms will have the more traditional tub and shower combination. Initially DVC had no plans to guarantee the type of room prior to the guest's arrival. While requests would be accepted, the final room assignment could be either a villa with the shower only or the tub/shower combo.
This decision drew criticism from members who would have a strong preference for one setup or the other. Parents of small children voiced concern over potential struggles bathing without a tub. Some guests with mobility issues--while not requiring a fully accessible room--may prefer the walk-in shower.
The move was even more curious in light of the fact that Disney is allowing cash guests at Copper Creek to guarantee the shower or tub at the time of booking. Deeds issued to owners of Copper Creek also specify whether their unit contains the walk in shower or tub/shower, though this designation has no bearing on how owners may use their points.

Regardless, it appears that Disney has heard the complaints. Per DVC Member Services, the type of bathroom will now be assigned at booking and guaranteed upon arrival. At least one owner has confirmed receiving an updated confirmation email which lists the bathroom guarantee.
Disney Vacation Club is currently accepting reservations from those who have purchased an ownership interest in the Copper Creek Villas & Cabins. Those who already have a reservation for a Deluxe Studio room are advised to contact Member Services to ensure that their preferred bathroom configuration is assigned.
Copper Creek reservations will open to owners of other DVC properties on Wednesday, April 26, subject to the 7-month booking restriction. Online reservations are not currently offered, but DVC hopes to have the feature enabled for Copper Creek by 4/26.
The fourteenth Disney Vacation Club property is scheduled to open on July 17, 2017.
